In Flanders Fields
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields
Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Zapata Falls
My spirit awakened in the mist
The falls pounded like a thundering herd
Where once the land was sacred, never fenced or sold
I stood against the cold and rocky cleft
As subterranean winds touched my face
Was this a doorway to another realm?
An escape from unbelievers in a
Believe in nothing ,desecrating span.
My feet and thoughts stood frozen in the stream
As I dreamt of rivers unspoiled by man
The poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge sprang
“Where Alph, the sacred river, ran” (Line 3)
Kalalau, The Mysterious Misty Domain
Look quick before the rain rolls in again
This valley is seldom beheld by man
What will you see in this misty domain?
Where did Koolau the dauntless leper hide?
Held in steep seclusion, open to the tide

My Lost Birds
My lost birds fell hard from their broken nest
Their soft downy home lined with happiness
Struck hard against the separating swell
A mother’s wing covered and protected
As you were quickly whisked far and away
To forbidden forests and mountains steep
O where have you flown my little lost birds?
I dream of you and miss your soft sweet songs
Someday your wings may carry you back home

On The Third Day
The Lord spoke from the empty void and mist
And out of nothing came the ancient branch
Primeval trunks and anchoring root
Above the grassy plain and mountain slope
Came fruit and cone and budding leaf
The aged pine and prairie grass
All born old, in a single day of time

The Wind

Run with me saith the wind
Across the frozen eons of
Time everlasting, to the sharpened edge of
Existence, of what is known as
Reality, the reality and wisdom of God

Aquilegia Coerulea
Is adorned with such beauty; sublime
The Rocky Mountain blue
Is Colorado true
O’ fairest one that blooms at timberline
Let not your loveliness be set aside
Apart from the melody of your name
The sons of Cain; their vile evil did disdain
But your infinite beauty will always remain
